Daskalopetra beach

Daskalopetra Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches of Chios, located 7 km north of the island’s capital in a small coastal the town of Vrontados. According to local myth, the beach got its name from the cliff, where the famous poet Homer usually met with his students, in translation the name of the beach means “teacher’s stone”. According to legend, the famous and beloved creator of the epics "Iliad" and "Odyssey" instructed his students to the accompaniment of the melody of the lyre and the sea, sitting on a large stone, which became a landmark of the island. It is from this place that a magnificent panorama opens to the beach of Daskalopetra.

Beach description

The beach coast is specious and clear, the crystal clear, bright blue sea washes the smooth white pebbles, forming a beautiful sea landscape. The waves in this part of the island are calm, so swimming is safe and comfortable. The beach is framed by tall, shady palm trees that spread their crowns over the sun loungers.

Near the beach there is a picturesque port with fishing boats, and on the beach there are various cafes, taverns, hotels, inns and apartments. Despite its popularity among tourists and locals, Daskalopetra is rarely crowded.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
