Karfas beach
Karfas is one of the most beautiful and popular among the relaxing beaches of the island of Chios. This picturesque coast is located with white sand on the eastern edge of the island, near the town of the same name and only 7 km south of the resort of Chios. The name of the village and the beach near it came from the word “karfaleos”, which means “dry” and, most likely, is associated with the favorable weather for the beach holiday prevailing in this area.

The long and wide beachline, covered with fine white sand with rare inclusions of the smallest pebbles, and very clean waters of turquoise shade have deservedly given Karfas the Blue Flag mark. Such condition, combined with picturesque scenery and developed infrastructure, make the beach one of the most visited in Chios. In a season that peak in July-August, it is very crowded here.

The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
