Lefkathia beach
Lefkathia is a small, but quite popular among holidaymakers Chios beach. It is located in a picturesque enclosed bay on the northwestern edge of the island, between two picturesque villages - Limnos with the beach of the same name and the port of Limnia, about 2 km from the village of Volissos. Among all the beaches in the northwest of the island of Lefkatia is the most famous and most visited.

Lefkstia is inferior in its scenic landscapes to mavros Volya or Agia Fotia, but at the same time it has its own unique charm. Its horseshoe-shaped beachline is framed along the edges by low, but picturesque hills with emerald inclusions of pine and Mediterranean shrubs growing on them. The shore is covered with light grey dense sand, which is closer to the sea is replaced by a fine light pebbles that looks contrasting against the background of blue sea waters.
Among the characteristic features of this beachline is the following nuances:
- the shape of the bay and the coastal hills protect the beach from the winds;
- there are no significant waves here, and there's usually absolute silence until noon;
- the waters are cooler than on any other beach in Chios, but the beach is perfect for sunbathing.
The sea off the coast of Lefkatia is impressively crystal clear and deep-water. But the coast has a shallow water area, which allows you to rest here and with children. The beach is very popular among vacationers, and the most crowded here on weekends.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

The infrastructure of Lefkada beach is well developed. Here you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds. On the shore there is a cozy beach bar, which guests can use free sun loungers. Many cozy restaurants and taverns can be found in Limnia and Volissos.
On the coast there are showers and cabins to change clothes. Near the beach there is convenient parking for cars. But it is worth considering that the coast is not controlled by rescues, and do not neglect the rules of safe swimming in the sea.

- The beach is almost 42 km from the island's capital. The closest to it is Volissos – a picturesque settlement on the hillsides, the historical center of which is distinguished by the presence of cobbled streets with old mansions. Resting here, you should find time for sightseeing leisure, visiting the monastery of Saint Markella, located about 8 km from the village, the most important shrine of the island.
- Also worth a visit are the nearby beaches – Managros and Magemena. From Limnia harbor you can book a sailing yacht on the rocky island of Psara, where a number of ancient attractions are located, acquaintance with which plunge into the fascinating past of this area.
