Magemena beach
Magemena is a popular sand and pebble beach on the northwestern edge of Chios, 40 km from its capital and in the vicinity of the village of Volissos. Situated between the two famous beaches of this area - Managros and Limnia , it is also considered to be an equally suitable place for a beach holiday, attracting many vacationers. Beautiful nature, clear waters and well-developed infrastructure give it the status of one of the best beaches in the region for family vacations.

Beach description
The shore of a rather vast and long bay of Magemena is covered with a thick layer of grey sand with insignificant inclusions of fine pebbles, which is found closer to the sea, and framed by an emerald of dense vegetation. In the shade of the coastal trees you can find desired coolness in a hot afternoon, when the sun shines all over the coast. Curiously, the Greek name of the beach is translated as "magical", "charming", and it is difficult to disagree with this, admiring its scenic landscapes.
Megamena beach is ideal for family vacation with children, as it differs:
- very clear and clean waters;
- a gentle entrance into the water and a significant part of shallow waters;
- rarely formed and, as usual, very small waves.
All this makes it safe to enjoy swimming here not only for adults, but even for babies. The northern edge of the beach borders with the equally picturesque coast of Managros, which is also popular among vacationers and with a length of 1.5 km is the longest on the island of Chios. It is considered to be a wilder beach, where there are almost no signs of civilization. Therefore, if you get tired of Magemena's crowds, you can move to more secluded parts of the Managros coast and enjoy the peace, even though its waters are cooler.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

On the shore of Magemena beach you can find all the features of the well-developed beach infrastructure. The coast is equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers located in several rows. On the shore there are changing rooms and showers. Fans of active leisure will be pleased with the availability of an equipped area for beach volleyball. There is convenient parking for cars near the beach.
The all-day beach bar serves snacks and drinks. Several cozy cafes can be also found near the beach for almost its entire length. In the vicinity there is an even wider selection of cafes, taverns and shops where you can buy food and drinks.

- In the vicinity of Magemena beach, you can visit the colorful old village of Koskinas and Chori and go on the nearby beaches.
