Lithi beach
Located on the west coast of Chios next to the tiny fishing village of Lithi. In ancient times, it was called Alithis limin, which means “true refuge” in Greek. The village is really very well located in a cozy crescent bay, on all sides protected by hills overgrown with dense greenery. There are practically no storms and strong winds characteristic of the west coast. Thanks to this, local people have been successfully fishing since ancient times, which is their main source of income.

Beach description
The beach is located in a specious bay, curved in a shape of crescent. In its southern part there is a fishing harbor, the northern extremely is protected by a cape that extends far into the sea. The beachline is long enough, but not too wide, covered with golden sand with small inclusions of pebbles. The sea is clean, transparent and so calm that it is more like a giant lake. Thanks to this, Lithi is the ideal place for rest with kids, who can spend hours splashing in shallow waters and making funny figures out of sand.
The entrance to the water is gentle and comfortable, the bottom is sandy and safe. Only occasion crabs and small fish can be found among the sea creatures, so snorkeling is best done on other beaches.
The central part of the beach is equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers ,at the edges, visitors usually sit on their towels. There are toilets, changing cabins, showers with fresh water. Along the coast there are several taverns with delicious fish cuisine, the best on the island. Price are lower than in other, more promoted resorts, and the quality of food is just amazing. Here you can taste dishes from lobster, red mullet, rare black fish, as well as appreciate the local wine and beer. All the facilities have free internet access and visitors can use the free sun loungers and order drinks directly to the beach.
It is easy to get to Lithi, form the capital city not more than half an hour by car or bus. The last part of the road runs along four beautiful bays, the beauty if which is breathtaking.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure
Near the beach there is a highway, along which there are hotels, shops and restaurants. There is also a fairly ample parking, a tour desk and a bike and sports equipment rental service. The most popular tourist option for accommodation is a three-star apartment hotel Almiriki located on the first line in the vicinity of the beach.
The bright, spacious rooms are decorated in natural beige tones and feature Wi-Fi and LCD cable TVs. All apartments have balconies with sea views and fully equipped kitchenettes and bathrooms. The price includes breakfast buffet with homemade cakes and freshly squeezed juices. Almiriki Cafe-Bar is on the beach, where you can spend time in the rays of the setting sun.
Guests enjoy free parking, parasols, sun loungers and beach towels. Within walking distance from the hotel there is a beautiful tavern, a coffee shop with amazing frappe and fresh pastries, a mini market and a vegetable market.
Lithi beach has no developed tourist infrastructure, upscale hotels and noisy entertainment. But tourists can taste the most delicious fish dishes on the island, go sea fishing and enjoy the fantastic sunsets, the best on Chios.

Lithi is one of the few western villages where residents are engaged in the production of mastic. Therefore, you should definitely buy local alcohol, sweets, cosmetics and toilet soap with the addition of this fragrant resin. It is important to note that the production pf mastic is included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO and is found only on Chios.
