Ftelia beach
Ftelia Beach is located in the very south of Panormos Bay. Meltemi winds blow from the north directly to its beige sands, creating excellent conditions for windsurfing. Sportsmen will feel at home on a half-kilometer territory between the hills. Unfortunately, you can only get to Ftelia by car or taxi: there is no public transport here. Chora is not far away.

Beach description
Ftelia's main visitors are windsurfers from Mykonos and other nearby islands. But this place won't fit those who just want to relax on a deck chair: it's always windy here, so no ideal conditions for sunbathing and swimming. But otherwise it's a great beach with a smooth descent. The sea bottom is partly covered with pebbles, but you won't need to wear anything on your feet as they aren't sharp.
There is a tavern in the western part of Ftelia where you can rest and eat. Hotels and even villas, where one can rent a suite, are situated along the roads. The beach is also famous for its archaeological digging sites: there's a neolithic village nearby where, some say, the legendary hero of Iliad, Ajax Oileus, is buried.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
