Lia beach
Lia is a small beach in the western part of the island. It combines well-developed infrastructure with a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Families, couples in love, single holidaymakers and people tired of the hustle and bustle rest here. There are also locals who are looking for peace in their native land.

Beach description
The beach is covered by soft golden sand which is perfect for barefoot walking. It is surrounded by grey and brown hills that are themselves covered in stones, sand and grass. A beautiful view of the island Naxos opens up from here. The sea here is bright blue, with smooth descent and crystal clearness. You can see the bottom even if it's very deep. High winds are rare, high waves even rarer.
The Lia Beach offers these and more:
- no loud music, crowds or drunk people;
- not a huge amount of visitors (you can find an unoccupied deck chair at any time of day);
- warm sea which is perfect for children (but only under parental supervision);
- wide and soft deck chairs and big umbrellas;
- relatively low prices (compared to more popular beaches).
This place is perfect for those who like calmness but aren't willing to give up their comfort. Important to note: Buses don't come here. To enjoy the sea you'll have to rent a taxi or a car.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

- Bella Alba – they offer rooms with air conditioners, wide-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The best rooms have equipped kitchens, terraces, and balconies. here, you can stay with animals, rent a car, use the free parking lot;
- Vlia – 4 star hotel with the garden, picturesque terraces, laundry, and dry cleaning. Guests are offered the personal kitchen, individual bathrooms, seafront rooms and free personal care items;
- Tha-Lia – this hotel is famous for its tasty cuisine, spacious rooms, modern furniture, and bathroom equipment. Its territory is equipped with a garden, leisure area, and free parking lot.
In the near vicinity of Liya, there are numerous deck chairs and sun umbrellas. 2 bars, shower stalls and changing cabins are open there as well. In a walking distance of two minutes from the beach, there is a vilalge of Calafati, famous for its colorful taverns with traditional Greek cuisine.
There is a diving school here. Its employees provide equipment for rent, teach diving and show the most exciting places. They speak Greek and English.
