Agios Georgios beach
Agios Georgios is the most popular Naxos beach among vacationers, located about 300-400 m south-west of Chora and 2 km from the center of the capital. It received its name from a chapel on its northern outskirts. The proximity to the capital of the island, excellent infrastructure and beautiful landscapes of the coast and the surrounding area easily made it very popular. Families with children and lovers of active leisure on the water come here for the sake of an unforgettable beach vacation.

Beach description
The long and scenic 1 km long shore is covered with very soft light golden sand. The purity of the coast and blue turquoise crystal waters were repeatedly marked with the Blue Flag, which contributes to the greater popularity of the beach. It is especially attractive due to the presence of 2 plots of land with different conditions that allow to find here a wonderful rest for two different categories of vacationers.
- The northern part of the coast is protected from the winds by the adjacent capes, with very calm waters, gentle access to the water and significant shallow waters, which creates the conditions for a sale vacation for families with babies.
- The southern edge of the beach is famous for stronger waves and constant winds, which is why this part of the coast has long been popular with windsurfers. The place is ideal for beginners who want to master this water sport, due to the shallow waters and not very powerful waves.
The bottom of the beach is shady, but it is necessary to take into account that on its southern outskirts in some places there are pitfalls. In July-August, Agios Georgios is the most crowded.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Beach chairs and umbrellas are rented on the beach. In the southern part of the beach there is a sports center where you can rent everything you need for water activities, including renting catamarans. There are 2 clubs on the coast where you can rent windsurfing equipment or book lessons with an experienced instructor.
Along the beach there are many bars and cafes, as well as shops and souvenir shops. Cafes and taverns on the beach are open to visitors from early morning. Near the beach there is parking for cars, but in the high season it is difficult to find accessible places. There are several supermarkets around the beach.
In the vicinity of the beach you can find several hotels and suitable apartment rental options. A good choice is the hotel Aeolis Boutique, from which the coast of Agios Georgios is 100 m. And to the city center, where there are many catering establishments and shops, is only 200 m. Silence lovers will appreciate the accommodation in Antonia Studios in the town of Naxos, from which it is easy to get to the beach, but at the same time you can enjoy the atmosphere of privacy.

- The beach is easily accessible on foot from almost anywhere in the island's capital. Holidays on the beach are relevant from mid-spring to mid-autumn.
- Near the beach, you should visit the historical center of the capital with snow-white houses on narrow streets and Castro Castle towering on the slopes, erected in the 13th century. Also, just a 5-minute walk from the beach you can see the ancient landmark – the marble gate of Portara.
