Orkos beach
Orkos is a relatively small but very picturesque rocky beach in the southwest of Naxos, one of the most secluded pearls of the island's coast. It is located between two more popular beaches - Mikri Vigla and Plaka and is most often visited as an additional bonus when relaxing on them. On the coast, it is never crowded, although the colorful landscapes of this coast are admirable. Romantic solitude lovers will be able to find their little paradise in Orkos, away from the noisy crowds.

Beach description
Orkos is famous for its picturesque views, the atmosphere of privacy and good conditions for conquering waves. Its km-long sand beach is bound by rocks that divide the beach into two areas.
- Its first part, 700 m long, is framed by emerald cut of numerous trees and bushes growing on the shore;
- second– is formed by two picturesque bays 100-200 m each, sand bands with thick layers of sand lodged between pinnacles and stony fills lowering under the water from the beach.
This picturesque Orkos landscape is complemented by hills with mild cedared slopes, and the incredibly clear sea water with sand visible on the bottom, as light-colored, as that on the beach.
Similar to neighboring beaches, rather good wind and wave conditions prevail here that allow windsurfing. Although, in distinction from Mikri Vigla coast waters, there is no suckh thick concentration of kiters per 1 sq. m of water area. Kiting all alone or accompanied by several friends will be a pleasure for people tending to escape crowded places. However, novices should not get hard knocks here – this beach still has no beach rescues.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure
Orkos beach is an absolutely wild corner of seclusion, so you should not look for signs of infrastructure here. Maximum comfort can be found on neighboring beaches. It is also worth getting here with all your equipment, food and other attributes of a comfortable stay. Given that access to the coast is not particularly difficult, difficulties will not arise.
To find the nearest cafes and taverns, you have to take a walk. If you get to Mikri Vigla, then there will be even more options for catering. - The easiest way to get to Orkos beach is by a rented car, choosing the path along the asphalt road from the island's airport, which connects the capital with the southwest coast. It is separated by about 10 km from Chora.
- It is best to choose a vacation on Plaka or Mikri Vigla, and on the coast of Orkos to take a one-day walk to enjoy the privacy and admire this picturesque beach. On the way to Orkos Beach, it is possible to admire the vast potato fields and the locals with donkeys.
