Lionas beach

Lionas is a small natural beach on the coast of the bay of the same name. It is located in the northeastern part of the island, near the fishing village of Lionas, 35 km from Chora, 14 km from Apirantos and 9 km from the village of Koronas. Visitors to Lionas expect a clear sea, a secluded atmosphere, beautiful seascapes and delicious local cuisine. Due to the fact that public transport runs only in the summer, it is most convenient to get to the beach by car or taxi.

Beach description

Lionas beach is 180 m long; its surface is covered with fine gray sand and white pebbles. The beach has no standard tourist infrastructure, except for a parking lot, and several restaurants. Due to smooth water entry and even sandy bottom, the sea in the beach area is suitable for family recreation, except days when north wind blows which creates storms. Among active beach entertainment, visitors of Lionass are offered sea fishing and diving.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
