Amitis beach
Amitis Beach, nestled in the northern reaches of Naxos, offers a unique charm that sets it apart from the more developed recreation areas on the island. While it may not boast extensive facilities, its cozy allure is undeniable. The presence of small waves is dictated by the wind's direction; a northerly breeze brings gentle undulations, whereas a southerly wind ensures the sea remains tranquil. Consequently, for those planning a family vacation, it is advisable to select days when the southern winds prevail, guaranteeing a serene and safe environment for children to play in.

Beach description
The nearest cafes, hotels, and shops are situated in the local villages, nearly 10 km from the leisure area. Therefore, it is advisable to purchase water and food beforehand. Although there is a bus service connecting the villages, it operates infrequently. Consequently, reaching the beach by car is much more convenient, and there is organized parking available adjacent to the beach.
Given that there are no amenities on the beach, it tends to attract fewer tourists, resulting in a tranquil and secluded atmosphere. Visitors are encouraged to bring not only an umbrella and towel but also sunscreen, due to the limited shady areas along the coast. Despite the beach's relatively small sandy expanse (approximately 700 m), it is bordered by rugged vegetation.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to visit Naxos for a beach vacation is during the summer months, particularly from June to September. During this period, the weather is typically warm and sunny, ideal for beach activities and swimming in the Aegean Sea.
- June: The start of the summer offers pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, making it a perfect time for those seeking a more peaceful beach experience.
- July and August: These are the peak months for tourism. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, crystal-clear waters, and a plethora of beachside activities. However, it's important to book accommodations in advance as this is the high season.
- September: As the summer winds down, the temperatures remain warm, but the island becomes less crowded. This is an excellent time for visitors who prefer a quieter setting to enjoy the beaches of Naxos.
Regardless of the month, Naxos boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, with Agios Prokopios and Plaka Beach being among the most popular. To fully enjoy the island's offerings, consider the balance between the lively high season and the tranquil shoulder months when planning your trip.
