Apollonas beach

Apollonas is a charming quiet beach where couples, families with children, nature lovers can relax. It is located in the fishing village of the same name, 35 km northeast of Chora. In summer, there is a bus running to the beach, but it is most convenient to get to there by car or motorcycle. Visitors to Apollonas Beach will enjoy crystal clear sea water, beautiful views, several interesting sights and cozy taverns serving meat and fresh fish dishes.

Beach description

The beach of Apollonas has the sand and pebble covering. The magic views of Aegean Sea open from it but strong north winds often make the beach unsuitable for swimming. The beach has no habitual infrastructure, except the small public parking lot, a mini market, a few souvenir stores and a pier servicing mostly fishing boats and tour boats. Nevertheless, the beach even in the high season is often full of tourists who use buses to get here.

The visit to Apollonas can be combined with visits to other sights situated in this area: teh statue of Kuros (6 century B.C.), ruins of the Agia tower, and Abram beach. Of beach entertainment, the visitors of Apollonas can try sunbathing, fishing, sea tours along the beach.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
