Kastraki beach
The long sandy stripes of Kastraki Beach stretch for several kilometers along the cool, crystal clear waters. Blue waves gently wash the shore, without creating discomfort for vacationers. Here you can swim, and sunbathe, and eat deliciously, and even take a walk naked - all these opportunities are provided by Kastraki beach with its freedom-loving atmosphere and untouched nature. To get to it you need to overcome only 16 km from the main city of the island. An asphalt road leads to it, so there should not be any problems with how to get there. Vacationers usually come here by car.

Beach description
Kastraki is a wonderful golden sand beach with crystal clear water. It is a long and embayed site with many gulfs. A line of other beaches is situated right behind it. This beach can be bravely called "virgin": it has no clusters of beach cafes and hotels, only sand and water are around. There are few visitors here, so, if you are tired of city fuss, you will find silence here.
The beach is conditionally divided into three zones: South and North Kastraki, and Glifada. The latter is regularly blown by strong north winds, so they create the perfect windsurfing conditions here. Wind is also observed on the other sites but it is weak, and is not an obstacle to visitors.
Rock formations are situated under water, by the beach. So take caution. Especially if you are afraid of swimming in areas with uneven bottom. Maybe then, you need another beach.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure
The beach is well equipped, but it is not overbuilt with coffee bars and other facilities – there are only a few, and they do not take up much space. There are all the necessary amenities, however, they are compactly placed and do not spoil the views of the natural scenery of the coast.
You can rent a sun lounger with an umbrella here, and also have a delicious lunch at much lower prices than on the beaches near Naxos. In this sense, its remoteness is a significant advantage. There are several taverns near the beach that offer both a traditional Greek menu and more universal dishes of European and American cuisine. There are also mini-markets nearby where you can buy everything you need for an outdoor picnic.
If you are interested in budget accommodation for the night, there are rent rooms in guest houses and apartments near the sea. For those who appreciates comfort, it makes sense to book a room in Summerland Holiday's Resort within walking distance of the beach. - Nudists gather in the southern part of the beach. If you go even higher, you will find several secluded bays, where you can relax without bathing suits in splendid isolation.
- Several yachts and boats are usually always moored near the beach, so if you wish you can go to explore the coast as part of a sea voyage.
- Transparent water and picturesque underwater cliffs create suitable conditions for snorkeling.
- There is a bus to Kastraki, but not often. Basically, tourists prefer to get ti the beach by taxi, rented car or motorcycle.
