Beach description
Kalados Beach is a sandy haven with a non-organized infrastructure, lacking facilities. Unlike the other two beaches of Naxos, it is fully protected from the north winds, making it an ideal spot for private recreation with family and kids. There is a parking lot and a restaurant that boasts a wonderful view of the beach, as well as a pier for yachts and fishing boats.
The sea in the vicinity of Kalados is clear and transparent, featuring a smooth water entry with a wide shallow area. The bottom is sandy, making the beach suitable for swimming and sunbathing. However, due to the absence of natural shade, beachgoers should bring their own beach umbrellas. Coastal rocks situated near the beach zone offer ample opportunities for sea fishing and sailing trips.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to visit Naxos for a beach vacation is during the summer months, particularly from June to September. During this period, the weather is typically warm and sunny, ideal for beach activities and swimming in the Aegean Sea.
- June: The start of the summer offers pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, making it a perfect time for those seeking a more peaceful beach experience.
- July and August: These are the peak months for tourism. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, crystal-clear waters, and a plethora of beachside activities. However, it's important to book accommodations in advance as this is the high season.
- September: As the summer winds down, the temperatures remain warm, but the island becomes less crowded. This is an excellent time for visitors who prefer a quieter setting to enjoy the beaches of Naxos.
Regardless of the month, Naxos boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, with Agios Prokopios and Plaka Beach being among the most popular. To fully enjoy the island's offerings, consider the balance between the lively high season and the tranquil shoulder months when planning your trip.
