Aliki beach

In the southern part of the island of Thassos, next to the fishing village of Alykes, which gave the name to the beach, there is a small cove that is cozy and protected from all sides by green hills. There is the Aliki beach. In addition to beauty and purity, it is also worth noting its amazingly fragrant and healing air. It is saturated with oxygen due to conifers growing in the immediate vicinity. Here you can not only sunbathe and swim, but also improve your health.

Beach description

Aliki is divided into two areas by a cape - a marble quarry - into two beaches "Big" and "Small". Each of them is fenced off from the open sea by a cozy bay, in which warm water and shallow depths are watched.

This is a sandy beach with a sloping slope into the sea and calm waves. For this it is loved by the parents of small children, who themselves can absolutely relax and sunbathe enough, not hanging over their children during the rest, while they are in the water.

However, this beach is no less popular among the youth contingent. The number of taverns, bars and other entertainment establishments on this coastline is almost a record on the island. Due to the high competition, the service in restaurants is at the highest level.

Not only party animals and family people will like to rest here, but also judges of a rich excursion program. A touring launch even moors to the beach, which carries out regular voyages as part of a program to visit the best beaches of the island. Once upon a time, marble was mined on this cape and salt was evaporated. Until now, the ruins of ancient structures and marble baths remained on its territory.

It’s most convenient to get here by car, since a few hours is clearly not enough for you. It is worth coming here for the whole day, and if you depend on the schedule of public transport, you definitely will not be able to enjoy this place to the full. Although if the option with a car or taxi is still not suitable, there are buses to the nearest village, from where it is possible to get to the beach on foot.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
