Salonikios beach
Thessalonikios is a quiet and sparsely populated beach located in a picturesque bay. The weather is calm and there are no sharp drops in depth. From the seashore offers beautiful views of the mountains of Thanasos, the sea and tourist liners. The beach is decorated with a large number of trees growing a few meters from the water. The beach is located in the south of Thasos, 22 km from the capital of the region. It can be reached by private car or taxi.

Beach description
Salonikios is covered with soft sand of light cream colour with a small amount of shingle and shells. Its surface is deprived of sea urchins and sharp rocks. On the eastern and western areas of the beach rocks tower. These places are popular among divers due to the presence of exotic fish species.
On the territory of Thessalonikios free sunbeds are installed, collected from pallets and other available materials. Next to them there are homemade tents and wastebaskets. In the center of the beach there is a small bar, where simple, but very tasty dishes are prepared.
Thessalonikios is popular with fishermen, merried couples and the native people of Thassos, tired of the bustle and annoying tourists. There are no merchants, crowds of people and loud music. Only peace and pacification.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
