Astris beach

Astris (Astrida) is a tiny beach located in a small bay. Translated from Greek "Astris" means "star". It is famous for its soft, fine-grained and pleasant to the touch sand, an almost complete absence of waves, calm weather. There is also crystal clear water, a soft sea bottom and a smooth set of depth. As for infrastructure, loungers with umbrellas and toilets are available for tourists, taverns and bars work on the promenade.

Beach description

A beautiful view of the uninhabited island of Panagia opens from the coast of Astris. According to the legend, it was here, where sirens lived, with which Odysseus met The beach is also decorated with mountain peaks, covered with forest.

Near the beach there is a small village. There it is possible to find about a dozen hotels, several shops, a colourful tavern and beautiful olive groves. There are also ruins of defensive towers near Astris.

The beach is popular among merried couples with children, couples in love, gastronomic tourists and fishermen. But there are few party-animals here - they prefer the Potos resort, located 5 km west from here.

The distance between Astris and the capital of the region is 45 km. It is possible to get to the beach by bus, taxi or private transport.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
