Palmi beach

Mediterranean classics for curious tourists

The sand and pebbly beach of Palmi city which is located on the Tyrrhenian Sea coast, was recognized one of the most beautiful places of Calabria, where rocky beach decorated with rich vegetation come close to the sea, leaving just a narrow band of land lower, by the very edge of water. It is especially hot there in the high season, and the beach is washed by sea, warm as steamed milk.

Beach description

The beach is covered with fine sand, mixed with sharp gravel and obsidian gallets in some sites, so it is desirable to use special shoes. Even rocky bottom is well seen trough clear transparent water.

  • The sand beach borders on picturesque site covered with large stones, where it is pleasant to relax on smooth boulders warmed with sun, feasting eyes upon the sea and the city, running down the slopes of Monte Sant'Eli mountain to water.
  • The beach is equipped with washing cabins and paid deck chairs and umbrellas. Palmi is considered one of the best places for scuba-diving and snorkeling - the richest Mediterranean underwater world opens right by the beach.
  • Palmi is highly popular among the locals and guests from all over Italy, so it is rather difficult to find a free place both on the beach and on parking lots in the high season. There are rather few foreigners because not everyone knows that such a place exists
  • Rest on Palmi with children is not a very good idea. It is too crowded and noisy there, no children's playgrounds are equipped, and parents experience difficulties with childhood nutrition, and high quality drinks. The optimal option is traveling with teens older than 10 years, who would only enjoy road adventures. They will enjoy swimming in the warm Tyrrhenian Sea, feast eyes upon picturesque views of the south of Italy, and learn more about the history of the old Roman ruins.

When is it better to go

In terms of climate, the period from May to October is the most favorable for visiting Italy. The air and water temperature becomes ideal for a classic beach holiday, followed by a trip to the coast of Italy. However, it is necessary to remember that a long summer with the scorching sun, warm sea and pleasant sea breeze attracts crowds of tourists.
