Roccella Jonica beach

There is clean, almost white sand on the beach, although in the sea there are areas of fine shingle. The entry is shallow and comfortable, it is not for nothing, that the Italians themselves chose this beach, there are also a lot of English people, resting in the high season.

The beach has excellent infrastructure, there is everything necessary. In beach clubs it is possible to rent everything necessary, there are changing cabins, a toilet, rescuers work. There is a small seaport in Roccella-Jonica, that takes fishing boats and small tourist boats. But the water area of the beach is very clean, it is not for nothing, that this place has been holding the "Blue Flag" for almost 20 years.

Roccella Jonica also attracts with its sights, that it is possible to contemplate directly from the beach. This is the Karafa Castle of the 14th century, located on a high cliff. Calabria is generally called the "country of castles". They were built in these places by the knights, who guarded the coastline from pirate raids. From the height of the cliffs, the entire surface of the sea is visible.

A new promenade runs along the beach, and 10 years ago there was a bicycle path, that connects Rocella Jonica with neighboring cities.

When is it better to go

In terms of climate, the period from May to October is the most favorable for visiting Italy. The air and water temperature becomes ideal for a classic beach holiday, followed by a trip to the coast of Italy. However, it is necessary to remember that a long summer with the scorching sun, warm sea and pleasant sea breeze attracts crowds of tourists.
