Ocean beach
Ocean Beach is a beach zone on the Pacific coast situated in the western part of San Francisco. It is a wide sand band a bit longer than 3 miles. The presence of strong currents and waves make it popular among surfers. In order to get to Ocean Beach, move to the end of Geary Boulevard, and turn to Great Highway. 3 car parking lots are located near the beach. Bus №23 also goes to the beach.

Beach description
Ocean Beach is covered with white sand containing magnetic iron particles that make the beach look dirty. The ocean in the beach area has the same temperature all year long: +13-15°C, which makes it unsuitable for swimming, together with uneven currents. In the first half of summer, foggy weather prevails on the beach, and it many be windy in the evening. The visitors of Ocean Beach enjoy windsurfing, skimboarding, and kitesurfing here. Moreover, hiking, cycling, and picnics are available.
The beach territory is equipped with public water closets, shower cabins, cafes and restaurants, stores selling water sports equipment. There are no rescuers on Ocean Beach, only beach patrols appear here sometimes to control the order. The beach has the dedicated places for bonfires, fire circles. It is prohibited to stay on the beach for a night and to drink alcohol. In close vicinity to Ocean Beach, there are several curious sights: Cliff House, ruins of Sutro Baths, the zoo and Lands End parking. Other popular beaches are also located near it: Rodeo, China and Baker.
When is the best time to go?
To lay off on the beaches of the mainland, it is best to come in the summer, when a sufficiently warm temperature is settled for swimming. Places like Florida or the Hawaiian Islands are comfortable all year round.
