South State Beach
South State Beach is a picturesque sandy beach that stretches from the road to McClellan-Palomar airport to La Costa Avenue. Unlike carlsbad's North beach, the South coast is characterized by a more secluded atmosphere and a minimum of camping facilities. Fans of silence and active water activities go here to relax (in particular, surfing and underwater fishing).

Beach description
The beach is a fairly wide sandy area surrounded by rocky cliffs, which isolates it from the outside world. Its total length is amout 5 km. In the afternoon, the coast is usually windy and powerful waves are formed. Therefore, even to the experienced swimmers are not recommended to swim far from the coast. It's also important to consider that at high tides the water can flood the coast up to the rocks. There are several safe access points on the coast (with stairs and marked trails), where you can park your car and go down to the ocean.
In the summer, many families with children often rest on the coast. Bicks can be rented near the campsite to explore the surrounding beach, and Carlsbad lagoon is an ideal place for kayaking. When vacationing on the coast should take into account the ban on walking with dogs and drinking alcohol. The coast is controlled by both lifeguards and Rangers.
When is the best time to go?
To lay off on the beaches of the mainland, it is best to come in the summer, when a sufficiently warm temperature is settled for swimming. Places like Florida or the Hawaiian Islands are comfortable all year round.
