Santa Monica State Beach

The beach stretches for 3.5 km along the South Californian coast from Malibu to Venice. Its shores boast a stunning view of the Palisades cliffs to the east and the beckoning Pacific Ocean to the west. The beach, with 245 acres of sand, is lined with linear parks featuring children's playgrounds, walkways, and bicycle tracks, the restored historical summerhouse, the unique landscape design, and the iconic palm trees.

Due to the strong winds and waves, Santa Monica is a haven for surfers. A curious fact is that this beach will welcome surfers and volleyball players during the 2028 Olympics. You can travel from the center of Los Angeles to Santa Monica Beach in approximately 50 minutes by car. An excellent alternative to driving is renting a bicycle on-site: the pleasure costs $20 a day for a child and $30-40 for an adult.

The sand here is exceptionally neat and fine, as it is regularly sieved and cleaned of rubbish. The water entry is smooth, although strong waves near the coast can make the entry challenging. Since the beach is quite extensive, it is conditionally divided into two parts - south and north of the pier. Incidentally, the pier marks the end of the famous Route 66, which stretches almost across the entire American continent, so don't forget to take a commemorative photo with the Route 66 sign.
