San Gregorio beach

San Gregorio beach - a picturesque California beach, located South of Half moon Bay (16 km) and is a part of a protected state park. This is a great place for a family holiday (but not with kids) near the ocean. The vast sandy coast is divided into 2 parts by a river, near which it is best to relax with children. Picturesque landscapes with grassy cliffs along the coast and organized picnic areas with wooden benches and tables only add to the attractiveness of this place of rest.

Beach description

the Proximity of the ocean makes the weather on this beach very capricious and changeable. It is advisable to take warm clothes with you in any season. On the sandy coast, located closer to the ocean, often there are large driftwood, thrown out by powerful waves. In places you can meet funny designs created by vacationers, but it is not recommended to touch the snags on the sand. Sometimes you can even admire the whales from the coast.

The river flowing into the ocean was once a spawning place for silver salmon, and the park provides for the replenishment of its population. Also in the river mouth is home to many birds (this is a small paradise for birdwatchers), including a rare white plover. Therefore, you can't walk with dogs and make fire on the river coast. After sunset, access to the beach is prohibited.

When is the best time to go?

To lay off on the beaches of the mainland, it is best to come in the summer, when a sufficiently warm temperature is settled for swimming. Places like Florida or the Hawaiian Islands are comfortable all year round.
