Firiplaka beach

It is here that most of the tourists who visited Milos have a rest. Firiiplaka is notable for its impressive length and comfortable arrangement. For families this is a typical beach with a developed infrastructure and convenient entry into the sea. Kids love colorful pebbles on the beach, with which they do not get tired playing throughout the day. In the meantime, parents relaxed in the sunbathing on soft sun loungers or order refreshments with traditional light Greek snacks.

Beach description

It is situated on the southern side of the island between the beaches of Provatas in the west and Tsigrado in the east. People who visit Mylos for the first time, are enchanted by its majestic volcanic rocks and snow white sand. Closer to water, the beach is covered with multi-colored fine pebbles on which you can walk in bare feet. In general, you don't need special shoes on the beach and in water: the beach is "soft" and "safe".

The beach uses popularity in all the categories of beachgoers. Shallow turquoise waters are perfect for swimming with kids - parents can even leave them on the beach without worrying. The beach highlight is considered a rock with an underwater cave and a ravine in the middle swimming across which is one of the favorite things for tourists to do. By the way, due to the fact that Firiplaki beach is absolutely bare (just rocks, no vegetation), people who didn't get their sun umbrellas often hide behind this stone.

In order to get to the beach, you can rent a car, call a taxi, or take a daily scheduled bus. You can have a sea tour on a scheduled small motor boat from Adamas port to Firiplaka beach.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Useful information

  1. At high tide, you have to go to the beach by water. If this is a problem for you, bring rubber shoes with you.
  2. Despite the busyness of the beach, a secluded place can still be found. The beach is quite long, so if you go away from the crowd, you can even find a secluded corner for a romantic date. Some manage to find a suitable place for a tent, although this beach is not intended for camping.
  3. In the south of the island where the beach is located, there are no such attractions, so we recommend that you rake a trip on the sea to explore the picturesque southern coast of Milos. Another attraction of this region is local cuisine.
