Bahoruco beach

Playa Bahoruco is a small but very picturesque beach located in the south of the Dominican Republic, about 15 km south of Barahona. It is especially popular among experienced surfers who are attracted by the constancy of high waves, ideal for enhancing skills in their conquest. In 2014, an international championship was even held here. But you should not forget about the presence of strong undercurrents and the lack of lifeguards on the coast, and be careful. The beach is also popular among local fishermen, and here you can often see their colorful boats.

Beach description

The coast, which has not been built up and has preserved its original charm, is covered with snow-white pebbles mixed with sand, impressing with the same dazzling whiteness, and surrounded by cliffs that give a picturesque view of the local landscapes. All this makes this beach an ideal place for beautiful photo shoots on the background of the sea and coconut palms on the shore. Lovers of romance are also attracted by the opportunity to observe the most colorful sunrises.

The proximity to the famous resort gave the beach popularity, but it is never crowded. For connoisseurs of ecotourism, Playa Bahoruko is one of the best places in the region, because beach vacations here can be combined with visits to parks with picturesque lakes and mountains that are located in the vicinity.

When is it better to go?

In summer, tropical rains and typhoons – are frequent guests in the Dominican Republic. Therefore, it is better to go there in winter, from November to March, when the air warms up to a comfortable 24-30 degrees, and the weather is dried up.
