Ai Lagoudis beach

Located in the prefecture of Messinia in the eastern part of Peloponessa next to the resort village of Cypressia. As the name implies, these places abound in cypress groves, which create a unique microclimate on the coast. Near the beach there is the source of Dionysiad, which, according to legend, scored from the ground from being hit by the staff of Dionysus.

Beach description

The beach is located in a cozy bay protected from waves and winds by a special pier. The beachline, which is 300 meters long, is relatively narrow and covered with golden sand with inclusions of shells and pebbles. The bottom is pebbly, quite comfortable, and there are pretty sharp depth differences in some places. Water is clear, emerald turquoise color.

The beach is marked by the Blue Flag and meets all the criteria for a comfortable eco-friendly vacation. It is equipped with toilets, showers, a rescue station and a medical station. Tourists can rent sunbeds and umbrellas or exchange them for drinks purchased at the bar. There is enough space for sit on your towels. Inflatable slides and trampolines are provided for kids, and there is a children's playground on the promenade. It is possible to do active sports, play beach volleyball, table tennis or badminton. There are numerous rental centers for boats, catamarans and sport equipment, as well as working water attractions at guests' disposal.

Many taverns invite visitors to taste local specialties and freshen up with cool drinks, and bars attract young people with trendy music and work until late at night.

A cozy scenic harbor with yacht parking (marina) is to the right of the beach, and next to it is a Katsaros park - a real oasis of shady cypress trees with a beautiful view of sea.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
