Tolo beach

Located in the eastern part of the Peloponesse ten kilometers from Nafplion, the first capital of Greece. Next to it there is a small resort town of Tolo, which attracts many tourists with its centuries-old history. The beach is surrounded from the sea by the picturesque islands of Coronissi, Dascalio and Romvi, which give these places additional charm. On one of them the ruins of an ancient fortress built during the reign of the Byzantines were preserved.

Beach description

The beach is long enough, but not very wide, in some places it narrows almost to the size of a sunbed. On the shore and in the sea - fine velvet sand, the entry into the water is smoothly, and there are almost no waves. Ideal for a vacation with children, for whom the whole town for games and entertainment is equipped on the beach.

Adults will also find something to your liking. The most active and inquisitive can rent a motorboat, kayak or catamaran and take a fascinating walk to the neighbouring islands. Fans of extreme sports are welcome to the diving center, sports and underwater equipment rental and various water attractions. Fans of sunbathing will appreciate the comfortable sun loungers under the reed sheds, near which there are special buckets for washing the feet from the sand. And connoisseurs of good cuisine will be able to enjoy the skills of local chefs in a variety of restaurants and taverns, located right on the beach.

Those who are used to secluded vacation away from noisy places, it makes sense to settle on the edge of the beach, closer to the cliffs. There you can sit comfortably with your own areas and dive with a mask, watching the flocks of colorful fish. However, it should beware of sea urchins, insidiously hiding among the stones.

Behind the cliffs, the next beach begins - Kastraki, pebble, "wild", and relatively uncrowded. There is a campsite where budget tourists prefer to stay, as well as fans of diving and underwater fishing with their bulky equipment.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Useful information

Around Toro there are a huge number of attractions, which makes the rest in these places especially attractive. The village is connected to neighboring cities by convenient bus routes, which is another undoubted advantage of this resort.

Nafplion is just a fifteen minute drive away, one of the most beautiful Greek cities and the largest port in the eastern Peloponnese.

The city has several interesting museums that must be visited, as well as many ancient churches and temples that amaze with their beauty and grandeur. The ancient Byzantine fortress of Palamidi rises above the city, and in the sea opposite the port you can see the island of Bourtzi, on which the remains of an ancient fort are preserved.
