The best beaches in the Peloponnese

Located in the southern part of the Peloponesse on the island of Elafonisos, part of the prefecture of Laconia. The island used to be part of the mainland, but a powerful earthquake that happened centuries ago took it off the land. Despite the remoteness and not very convenient transfer, Elafonisos is one of the best resorts in Greece, and Simos is considered to be its pearl. The beach is included to the list of nature reserves of the Natura 2000 organization and is a conservation zone in the EU.

Located in the prefecture of Messinia on the west coast of Peloponessa. With a bizarrely curved amphitheater, it crowns the picturesque lagoon of Yalova, which is connected to a narrow sand spit. Next to the beach there is the fresh lake Divariou, where about three hundred different species of birds migrate from Europe to Africa. Therefore the local area is a conservation zone and taken under the control of the environmental organization Natura 2000.

Skoutari is a beach located between the resorts of Kotron and Gifio. It is characterized by perfect cleanliness, a large number of attractions, shallow and very warm sea. Located in the eastern part of the Peloponesse ten kilometers from Nafplion, the first capital of Greece. Next to it there is a small resort town of Tolo, which attracts many tourists with its centuries-old history. The beach is surrounded from the sea by the picturesque islands of Coronissi, Dascalio and Romvi, which give these places additional charm. On one of them the ruins of an ancient fortress built during the reign of the Byzantines were preserved.

Pori is a small beach with well-developed infrastructure located in the city of Gefira. On its territory there are sun loungers and umbrellas, showers, dressing rooms, lifeguard towers. Near it there are taverns, bars, supermarkets and free parking.

Karathona is one of the most popular beaches on the Peloponnese. The length of the Karathona exceeds 2.5 km, and its width reaches 30 m. At the peak of the tourist season, the beach is filled at 9-10 in the morning. In its remote areas you can find free space at any time of the year.

Porto Heli is a sandy beach located in the Argolida region (northeastern Peloponnese). On its territory there are soft sun loungers, toilets, changing cabins, garbage bins and shower rooms. In August, a number of entertaining events take place on the territory of Porto Heli, including “Fishing Week”, “Science and Art Festival”, dance master classes and many others.

Xylokastro is a Peloponnesian beach located in the middle of the mountains. From its shores, a beautiful view of the lands of central Hellas, Greek villages and tourist ships. Xylokastro is covered with soft and golden sand, on which people walk barefoot. There is no strong wind or large waves - high rocks protect them from them. The beach also has a flat entrance to the sea and crystal clear waters.
