Karathona beach
Karathona is one of the most popular beaches on the Peloponnese. The length of the Karathona exceeds 2.5 km, and its width reaches 30 m. At the peak of the tourist season, the beach is filled at 9-10 in the morning. In its remote areas you can find free space at any time of the year.

It attracts thousands of tourists in perfect order: the beach area is constantly being cleaned from garbage, sharp objects and sea urchin. For perfect cleanliness Karafone even got the Blue Flag award. There are food courts, cozy taverns, noisy bars and restaurants with cuisine on the beach. Some of such places work all night, organizing parties, film screenings, lectures and creative events. Tourists will also enjoy sports activities: the beach has infrastructure for volleyball, water skiing, parachuting, diving, boating and catamarans.
Karathona is popular among families due to windless weather, smooth depth difference and absence of strong waves. It is also loved for its soft sea bottom, crystal clear water and bright sun. You can get here from Nafplion by private taxi or rented transport.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
