Emblisi beach

Nestled a short distance from Argostoli, near the quaint fishing village of Fiskardo, lies the charming Emblisi Beach - a hidden gem where one can stroll to from the village itself. The crystal-clear azure waters create an illusion of being whisked away to an exotic island, far from the shores of Greece. Here, instead of coconut-bearing palm trees, you are sheltered from the sun's embrace by serene olive groves and the lush greenery of coniferous forests.

Beach description

Emblisi Beach, located in a picturesque crescent-shaped bay on the island of Kefalonia, Greece, offers a serene escape for beach vacationers. The beach's size is modest, which means that tourists staying at the adjacent hotel, situated directly on the beachfront, can make the area appear quite crowded. To secure a spot, it is recommended to arrive at Emblisi early in the morning, as parking lot spaces are limited.

The shoreline is adorned with white, flat pebbles, and stones fringe the edges, presenting a slight challenge when entering the water. However, the reward is the water's remarkable clarity, allowing visibility of the sea bottom even 15 meters from the shore. In terms of depth, Emblisi Beach is more forgiving than the famed Myrtos Beach, offering easier access back to the shore. Despite this, it is imperative to exercise caution, especially with children, during windy conditions when high waves can pose a risk.

Infrastructure

In spite of its proximity to the luxurious Emelisse Resort, the beach lacks amenities such as deck chairs, sun umbrellas, showers, and WC facilities. Instead, beachgoers make use of the natural rock ledges that extend into the water, which double as a solarium, attracting more sunrays than the more remote land areas. On the beach, visitors will find a bar and a small parking lot.

However, Emblisi Beach does not offer scuba-diving equipment rental, so remember to bring your own mask and snorkel. Near the shore, you can embark on a captivating underwater journey to explore the unique bottom relief and marine life.

While there is a kiosk on the beach selling drinks, ice cream, and snacks, it is not suitable for a substantial meal. To dine like a "civilized" person, one must head up to the village of Fiscardo, where a variety of restaurants cater to all tastes. Keep in mind, however, that these establishments do not offer low-budget options.

As for accommodation near the beach, there is no need for a lengthy journey: Fiscardo Studios and Nitsa Rooms Cephalonia are within walking distance of Emblisi Beach.

Useful information

  • You can walk from Fiskardo to the beach in 10-20 minutes. A taxi ride will cost you 5 euros. Many tourists rent a car or a scooter for the rest, however if you come to rest and relax, it is better not to mess with the rental. It is a waste of money.
  • You should only go here if you are not annoyed by the cries of ubiquitous mothers and young children, because for some reason their beach is especially popular.
  • Local people like to relax at Emblisi. So, the nearest district this is definitely the best place. In addition, the Greeks are quite sociable and always warm towards Russians, so you can easily start a conversation with them (unless, of course, you understand each other) and find out a lot of useful information, as they say, first-hand - where to eat, make purchases, order a taxi, etc.
