Emblisi beach

This small cozy beach is located not far from Argostoli next to the fishing Fiskadro village, from where you can even reach it on foot. Crystal clear azure water gives the impression that you are not in Greece, but on exotic islands. You are shaded from the sun by olive groves and coniferous forests instead of palm trees with coconuts.

Beach description

The beach is located in a crescent-shaped bay. It's not big, so tourists who live in the hotel, which is located right on the beach, make it look quite crowded. Parking lot spaces are limited, so it's advised to come to Emblisi early in the morning.

The beach is covered in white flat pebbles, with stones on the edges that make the descent into water a bit difficult. The water is so clear that the sea bottom is visible even if you go 15 meters away from the shore. And as for depth. If you compare this beach to Myrtos, as many people do, then it's not as deep and not as difficult to come back to the shore. But please don't leave your children unsupervised during winds, as high waves are possible and can cause harm.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure

In spite of proximity to the luxury hotel Emelisse Resort, there are neither deck chairs nor sun umbrellas, shower, and WC at Emelisse. Instead of deck chairs, the beach goers use the rock ledges protruding deep into water. They also perform the role of solarium because they attract more sunrays in comparison with land sites more remote from water. On the beach territory, there is a bar and a small parking lot.

However, Emblisi has no special scuba-diving equipment rent, so don't forget to take your won mask and pipe. Close to the beach, you can enjoy the fascinating underwater trip and see the curious bottom relief, and sea life.

On the beach territory, there is a point selling drinks, ice cream, and snacks. You can make a light meal, but not dine substantially here. In order to feel like a "civilized" person, you'll have to lift to the village of Fiscadro where you'll find plenty of restaurants for any taste. Don't forget that this establishment has no low-budget offers.

Concerning places where it is possible to stay close to the beach, you won't have to go for a long time: Fiscardo Studios, Nitsa Rooms Cephalonia, are within the walking distance from Emblisi.

Useful information

  • You can walk from Fiskardo to the beach in 10-20 minutes. A taxi ride will cost you 5 euros. Many tourists rent a car or a scooter for the rest, however if you come to rest and relax, it is better not to mess with the rental. It is a waste of money.
  • You should only go here if you are not annoyed by the cries of ubiquitous mothers and young children, because for some reason their beach is especially popular.
  • Local people like to relax at Emblisi. So, the nearest district this is definitely the best place. In addition, the Greeks are quite sociable and always warm towards Russians, so you can easily start a conversation with them (unless, of course, you understand each other) and find out a lot of useful information, as they say, first-hand - where to eat, make purchases, order a taxi, etc.
