Beach description
The coastline of Pefkoulia beach in Lefkada, Greece, is quite long and boasts a blend of sand mixed with medium-sized pebbles. Flanking the shore, large boulders provide secluded spots where nudists and members of the LGBTQ+ community often find privacy. The central area is well-equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, complemented by several quaint cafes and the Deck Tavern, offering a hearty selection of local and European cuisine. Amenities such as toilets, changing rooms, and showers are conveniently clustered in this zone. Moreover, the most accessible entry point to the sea, ideal for seniors and children, is located just to the right.
However, visitors should be aware of the beach's main drawbacks: a rocky seabed and a rather steep drop-off near the shore. It is advisable to choose swimming spots with caution and consider wearing protective footwear. Additionally, the open sea here can be quite rough, particularly in the afternoon.
The undeniable allure of Pefkoulia beach lies in its expansive size, the pristine turquoise waters, and the breathtaking natural scenery, enveloped by a lush coniferous forest. Even during peak season, finding a spot is rarely a challenge, and the shade of the majestic pine trees offers the perfect setting for camping or enjoying a picnic.
A convenient highway provides direct access to the beach, accompanied by complimentary parking. Regrettably, parking space is limited and tends to fill up by noon during the high season. When the parking lot reaches capacity, vehicles often line the roadside, leading to traffic congestion.
When is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit Lefkada for a beach vacation is during the summer months, specifically from June to September. During this period, the weather is ideal for beach activities, with long sunny days and minimal rainfall.
- June: The beginning of the summer offers pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, making it a perfect time for those seeking a more peaceful beach experience.
- July and August: These are the peak months for tourism in Lefkada. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, crystal-clear waters, and lively beach bars. However, it's also when the island is most crowded, so booking accommodations in advance is highly recommended.
- September: As the summer winds down, September provides a balance with warm sea temperatures and fewer tourists. This month is ideal for visitors looking to enjoy the beauty of Lefkada's beaches without the peak season hustle.
Regardless of the month you choose, Lefkada's stunning beaches, such as Porto Katsiki and Egremni, offer a breathtaking backdrop for a memorable beach vacation. Just remember to consider your preferences for weather, crowd levels, and local events when planning your trip.

Just behind the mountain, a little to the south, there is a small secluded Milos beach, one of the most beautiful in Lefkada. A rather steep forest path leads to it, the journey takes about forty minutes. From the village of Agios Nikitas, a water taxi runs to the beach, the schedule of which depends on the season and the excitement of the sea.
