Porto Lagos beach

Porto Lagos Beach is located on the coast of the Thracian Sea, on the northernmost coast of Greece, in Lagos Bay. It is disordered, rocky, and the sand strip is very narrow. What attracts many tourists here? The answer is simple - medicinal algae growing at the very edge of the water, saving from many diseases.

Beach description

Porto lagos cannot be called the most beautiful beach of north Greece. The sand zone is narrow and has room only for one person. The beach borders are forest and grass lines, no infrastructure is present at all (for food and place to stay for night, you'll have to drive to the closest village of Porto Lagos, and the water entry is covered with ooze and pebbles, despite its smoothness. But anyway, the inhabitants of the large Xanthi, Porto Lagos becomes the favorite place to spend weekends. It is all due to healing algae covering the sea bottom and curing diseases, and fantastic views created due to sandspits.

One of disadvantages of this beach is the fact that it is non-equipped, especially by water. Sometimes, the sea near Porto lagos is heated to 30 C. This may be a disadvantage for some people. In the whole, the beach promises recreation and "wild" rest on the sea shore, calm and serene.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
