Alykanas beach
Alykanas is a long and narrow sand strip in the north of Zakynthos island near the town of the same name. This is quite a popular coast, from which you can see the opposite coast of Kefalonia in clear weather. Tourists will find here a well-developed infrastructure, warm sun and crystal clear sea.

Alykanas is a narrow beach, however there's enough room for everybody thanks to its length. And the tourists are plenty because the beach's advantages include not only soft sand and calm water without high waves, but also many different activities: from beach volleyball and football to kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking and other sports. Thanks to the wide array of activities, no winds and a smooth descent into water, Alykanas is popular among families with young children.
Numerous taverns and restaurants where you can try fresh meals, as well as hotels and hostels of different price ranges, are located just near the beach. There are ship tours from Alykanas to Navagio - the famous beach around the world with ship remains near the shore.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
