Banana beach

Banana is the largest and longest beach on the Vasilikos Peninsula, which is especially popular among vacationers of all ages. Here you can find suitable conditions for recreation of any category of vacationers, ranging from families with kids and ending with lovers of water sports and incendiary parties. A well-developed infrastructure in combination with ideal natural conditions has given Banana the fame of the best place for a true beach holiday in Zakynthos. It resembles a banana in shape, which gave it its name.

Beach description

This long beach is located near the Argassi resort, known for being the noisiest and the best place for parties on the island. So it's no wonder that it spreads to the Banana shoreline, which is perfect for comfortable relaxation. You can find a lot of opportunities to make your stay here unforgettable.

The Banana shoreline is wide and very long (about 5 km), but the noisy part of it is all in the central part. The left side of the beach is almost fully uncrowded and a good place for those who want to enjoy the calmness in solitude.

The water is crystal clear. The descent is smooth and the depth isn't big near the shore. Banana is a perfect place to bring your children to. But please be careful as there are small stones a few steps into the water, otherwise the beach and the sea bottom are covered in grainy sand.

High winds are frequent in this area - it can even tear your umbrella down if it's not stable enough. High waves are also an occurrence you need to note when planning your family vacation here. So watch your children carefully and don't leave them unsupervised.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

There is a site to play beach volley-ball and water sports equipment rent station. A car parking lot is provided near the beach. You can engage in parasailing. A floating dam for motor boats is situated right near teh beach.

There are also many beach cafes and taverns overlooking the beautiful sea and offering tasty and nutritious food. For rather low-budget prices, large and nutritious servings are offered, plus drinks and snacks can be ordered. There are hammocks near the cafe but there are no places to hide from the sun. There are also beach discos, so this is one of the island beaches the most loved by youth.

The hotel closest to the beach (250 meters away from it only) is a popular resort hotel Arion Resort. You can also find rent offers for apartments and sea villas but prices will be higher in these cases.
