Kalamaki beach
There is Kalamaki Beach, one of the island's longest resorts in the south-east of Zakynthos in Laganas Bay: it is 5 kilometers long. This is a crowded beach that will appeal to people of all categories and ages: from single vacationers to families with children.

The Kalamaki Beach isn't as popular as other beaches of Zakynthos, but for many tourists it's one of the most comfortable and well-equipped ones. It's a wide beach with sand and pebbles that adjoins the calm blue and crystal clear sea. Kalamaki is surrounded by mountains covered in grass and various plants. The descent is smooth, shallow waters can be found both at the shore and further away from it. Its main feature are the loggerhead sea turtles. Kalamaki is part of the National Sea Park, which is why turtle nesting spots are marked.
The infrastructure is very well-developed. you can use sunbeds, umbrellas, showers and changing rooms. Many taverns and restaurants are scattered along the promenade. Hotels and hostels are also located very near.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
