Beach description
The beach got its name from Plaka Beach Resort, its owner. The golden sand slowly makes its way into the water, merging with the sea bottom free of stones and seaweed. The descent is smooth, which makes it ideal for families with young children that frequently visit the hotel and the beach itself. The infrastructure is top notch: the usual equipment, like deck chairs, umbrellas, changing rooms and showers, are here, but there's also a wooden path that tourists can take to get to their sunbed without making their way through sand. A beautiful mountain with the statue of Poseidon - the symbol of this beach - is located to the right of the beach.
Several taverns are located near the Plaka Beach. There's a parking lot near one of them, but you'll need to pay 4 euros to use it, so it's better to leave your car on the road before reaching the tavern.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
