Porto Vromi beach

Porto Vromi beach - a secluded sandy place, lost among Greek natural beauties, lurking among gray rocks on the western shore of Zakynthos. Although it’s far to get to it from big cities, and the set of amenities is very limited, Porto Vromi is worth the time spent, because such beautiful bays are a real rarity.

Beach description

The best view on Porto Vromi opens from above. The gradually narrowing bay forms a kind of a bident, the beach is located on one of its ends. It's not very big, but it's all compensated by the very beautiful picture: saturated aquamarine water surrounded by light gray mountains covered in grass that frame the beach from both sides and merge with water like fjords. Naturally formed grottos that are perfect for snorkeling can be found inside the mountains.

The beach is covered in sand and pebbles, the descent is smooth but the depth spikes very quickly, just a few meters away from the shore. The sea bottom is covered in stones so it's advised to wear slippers, especially if you're learning how to swim. Deck chairs and umbrellas need to be taken care of beforehand, but you can rent a boat right here. The bar beside the beach has everything to satisfy your gastronomical needs.

The bay serves as a place to swim, but many boats are moored to the mountains. Boat tours to the famous Navagio Beach and to the Blue Caves of Zakynthos depart from here.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
