Haulover beach
Haulover Beach is a sprawling sandy beach located north of Bal Harbour, nestled within the 40-hectare Miami city park that shares its name. Renowned for its pristine cleanliness, meticulous maintenance, and breathtaking landscapes, it consistently ranks as a top contender in the annual lists of the USA's best beaches. However, Haulover boasts a charming feature that enhances its allure with a touch of liberty. It is the only beach along the entire Miami coast where nudist recreation is officially permitted.

Beach description
The total length of Haulover Beach is approximately 2.4 km. The expansive swath of soft, snow-white sand, dotted with rare, solitary palm trees, captivates everyone who visits this beach for the first time. Located on the Atlantic coast, within Biscayne Bay, it is an idyllic spot for family outings. However, Haulover is particularly favored by the youth.
Its popularity stems from several appealing features, including:
- the very clear azure waters, complemented by the pristine, snow-white sand of the beach and seabed;
- the presence of shallow waters near the shore, coupled with good waves for surfing, which provide an excellent opportunity for beginners to learn the sport;
- a broad and extensive coastal strip that offers the chance to find a private spot for relaxation, even when the beach is bustling with tourists;
- an infrastructure that is superbly developed in all aspects, complete with vigilant beach lifeguards;
- the availability of a designated area for nudist recreation.
Nudist recreation is permitted on the northern edge of the beach, which lies closer to Sunny Isles. Spanning 600 meters, this section is recognized as the longest nudist beach in the USA.
The area is demarcated, and as visitors approach, they are greeted by warning signs indicating the zone is reserved for nudist recreation. This beach is noted for its exceptional cleanliness and well-maintained infrastructure, consistently ranking it among the top 10 best nudist beaches in the world.
When is the best time to go?
The East Coast of the USA boasts a variety of picturesque beaches that are perfect for vacationers. To make the most of your beach holiday, timing is key. Here's when you should consider planning your trip:
- Summer (June to August): The quintessential beach season. This is when the weather is warmest, and the water temperatures are ideal for swimming. Beach towns are bustling with activities and events.
- Late Spring (May) and Early Fall (September to early October): Best for those seeking fewer crowds. The weather is still warm enough for beach activities, and the ocean remains swimmable, especially in the southern parts of the East Coast.
- Winter and Early Spring (November to April): Not recommended for beach vacations due to cooler temperatures. However, this period offers the lowest rates for accommodations.
Ultimately, the best time for a beach vacation on the East Coast depends on your preferences for weather, water activities, and crowd levels. Summer offers the full beach experience, while the shoulder seasons provide a more relaxed atmosphere with plenty of sunny days.
