Haulover beach
Haulover Beach is a long sand the beach which is situated northwards from Bal harbor, on the territory of Miami city park with the same name having area of 40 ha. The total length of Haulover Beach is about 2.4 km. The wide and extended band of soft snow white sand with rare singular palm trees enchants everyone who comes for the first time to this beach, situated on the Atlantic coast, in the Biscaine Bay. It is a perfect place for family recreation but Haulover is especially popular among young people.
It became especially popular for many reasons, including:
- very clear azure water, snow white sand on the beach and in the sea;
- the presence of the shallow water site by the shore and good waves for surfing, allowing novices to master this sport;
- a very wide and extended coastal band that allows finding a secluded place for recreation even if there are crowds of tourists;
- infrastructure, excellently developed in all terms, and the entire beach control by beach rescuers;
- presence of a nudist recreation site.
Nudist recreation is allowed on the beach northern edge which is situated closer to Sunny Isles. The length of nudist beach is 600 m which makes it the longest beach of its kind in the USA.
This territory is fenced, and when you approach it, you will see warning signs informing that it is the recreation zone for nudists. The beach is characterized by special cleanliness and developed infrastructure and is included into top 10 best nudist beaches is the world every year.
When is the best time to go?
To lay off on the beaches of the mainland, it is best to come in the summer, when a sufficiently warm temperature is settled for swimming. Places like Florida or the Hawaiian Islands are comfortable all year round.

Infrastructure
The infrastructure development on Haulover Beach can impress even the experienced tourists. Comfort level is very high here. Guests can enjoy everything for wonderful recreation:
- there are water closets, shower cabins and changing cabins on the beach;
- you can rent umbrellas and sling chairs, use a bicycle and even a fitness track with machines in the open air;
- on the entire beach, there are located sport sites, trampolines and playgrounds, with the neighboring stations where you can rent any equipment you need;
- along the entire coast, there are beach rescuers' towers; moreover, the beach is controlled with the police service;
- in the beach neighborhood, one can find many cafes and restaurants.
On the park territory, there is a yacht lay-up and tennis courts. Near the coast, there is a paid parking lot, and the beach entrance is free. The closest hotel to the coast is Quarzo Boutique Hotel which is approximately 350 meters from the beach. Even the wider range of accommodation options is availbale on the area from Miami north edge to Bal Harbor.

- Annually, since 1992, every Sunday of the third week of February, the large kite festival is held on Haulover Beach. It is the most spectacular kite event in Miami. Many other events (various competitions, mater classes) for interesting family entertainment are carried out on the park territory at any other time. The park territory also has the kite store.
- Haulover has numerous yachts available for rent. Sea fishing is one of popular leisure options here. In the evening, fishermen with their daily take come to the pier, attracting numerous pelicans here. You can buy fresh fish and order fish BBQ right here. It should be remembered that you need a special permit for fishing in the sea.
- Each Wednesday and on weekend, recreation with pets is allowed on this beach from 8 AM to 3 PM. Moreover, the park territory includes the training zone for dogs which allows uniting beach recreation with your pet training.
- The beach has specially equipped picnic sites with tables and benches, and 4 indoor pavilions. Picnic sites are free, and pavilions are for rent, and they should be booked in advance.
