Coconut Island beach

Located on the east coast of the Big Island of Hawaii in Hilo Bay. It is a small picturesque island-park, connected to the mainland by a 75-meter foot bridge. In front of it is a large municipal car parking, and the viaduct itself is equipped with a ramp for wheelchairs.

Beach description

There are gazebos for recreation, children's and sports grounds, barbecue areas. There are several tents with fast food and drinks, picnic products can be purchased at the farmer's market in Hilo.

True, the water is often muddy, which makes it difficult to conduct high-quality underwater surveys and observe marine life. But in the northern part of the island an old tower has been preserved, which children and adults use as a diving tower.

The island offers magnificent views of Hilo and the magnificent gardens of Queen Liliuokalani, and it is an excellent location for wedding ceremonies and unforgettable photo shoots.

When is the best time to go?

To lay off on the beaches of the mainland, it is best to come in the summer, when a sufficiently warm temperature is settled for swimming. Places like Florida or the Hawaiian Islands are comfortable all year round.
