Polihale beach

The beach is located in the west of the Kauai Island and is the longest beach of Hawaii. Despite that, swimming here is only safe in the south of the beach, the so called Queen's Pond. It's watched by rescue workers and is equipped with everything necessary. Strong ocean currents that create unstable waves and dangerous swirls go along the rest of the area.

Beach description

There are no rescue workers there, as well as first-aid posts, and the typical beach infrastructure consists of only toilets and water fountains. You'll need to bring your own food and beverages, and also don't forget umbrellas and sunscreen, as there's no natural shadow on the beach.

Fishermen, surfers and those who prefer quiet solitary vacations among the wild nature like to spend their time on Polihale. You can set up a great picnic, set up a camp and feel like Robinson Crusoe on this beach. However, getting here is quite complicated - a bumpy unpaved road that needs to be constantly checked on the map is the only way here. Therefore, the best transport would be an off-road vehicle with slightly deflated tires so as not to get stuck in high sandy dunes that surround the beach.

When is the best time to go?

To lay off on the beaches of the mainland, it is best to come in the summer, when a sufficiently warm temperature is settled for swimming. Places like Florida or the Hawaiian Islands are comfortable all year round.
