Kekaha beach

Located in the southwestern part of the Hawaiian island of Kauai and is considered the longest (about twenty kilometers) beach in the state. The giant coastline, covered with golden sand, starts from Cape NaPali in Polihale and stretches north along the coastal highway. Kekaha Beach is the sunniest corner of the island, there is virtually no rain. There are canopies on the beach, but not all over the territory, so you should take care of umbrellas and sunscreens yourself.

Beach description

Swimming in these places is unsafe, since the beach is not protected by the coastal reef and is completely open to waves, powerful ocean currents and dangerous marine life. And the water is not crystal clear because of the rivers flowing into the ocean. Surfing is only for experienced athletes, as evidenced by the huge number of broken boards lying on the shore. Therefore, visitors to the beach most often prefer active leisure activities on the shore: jogging, sports, racing in jeeps and sandy yachts, horseback riding.

On the beach there are special barbecue areas, there are several convenient parking lots. Rescuers monitor the order, they also report a sharp change in weather and the direction of currents.

When is the best time to go?

To lay off on the beaches of the mainland, it is best to come in the summer, when a sufficiently warm temperature is settled for swimming. Places like Florida or the Hawaiian Islands are comfortable all year round.
