Armenistis beach

Armenistis Beach is one of the best beaches on the Sithonia Peninsula in Halkidiki. It got its name from the fishing village of the same name, near which it is located. The coast is distinguished by picturesque landscapes, amazingly clear waters and clean sand, for which it is rightly marked with the Blue Flag. If you want to swim in the sea and at the same time admire Mount Athos, then it is worth going to this beach.

Beach description

Armenistis is a true heavenly spot of Halkidiki, often called as even one of the best beaches in all of Greece. It is located on the eastern outskirts of Sithonia, and its vast coastline stretches for almost 2 km.

There are almost no settlements near it, so there is rarely very crowded on the beach, with the exception of the part of the coast, where the camping is arranged for rest.

  • The most secluded rest is possible on the northern edge of the beach. Snorkeling is also relevant there, as there are interesting underwater cliffs.
  • The coastline is covered with light, almost snow-white sand.
  • Incredibly clear waters impress with plays of turquoise-emerald hues in the sun.
  • The sea bottom is covered with coarse sand, when entering the water, small waves are possible.

But in places on the coast, sand alternates with large rocks and boulders that go straight into the sea. In such areas it is possible to sunbathe and take pictures, but it is better not to swim - there is a high risk of bumping against reefs or stepping on a sea urchin.

The slope into the water is sloping, very comfortable, considerable depth begins only after a few meters. It is possible to come here to rest with children, choosing central areas for location.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

The beach is very long and you can even find corners for a "wild" relaxation. "Civilization" is concentrated in the form of developed infrastructure mainly in the central part of the beach.

Here are available:

  • rent of sunbeds and parasols;
  • order drinks and snacks at beach bars;
  • showers (available on the entire beach every 300 m)

You can come to this beach in a rented car from other resorts of the peninsula or stop at the campsite of the same name on its beach. Tents or caravans will be provided for your stay. This campsite is considered one of the oldest in Halkidiki and the best in terms of the quality of services offered and its almost home comfort.

In the vicinity of Armenistis are available various hotels where you can also stay from May to September. For instance, the hotel Erofili Beach (it is the closest to Livadi).
