Kalamitsi beach
Kalamitsi Beach is one of the best and most picturesque beaches on the Sithonia peninsula. But even with such fame, it is not so much discovered by tourists. On the long coast you can find many wild coves of pristine beauty for a secluded holiday, which attracts everyone who seeks to avoid noisy crowds and crowded beaches.

Beach description
Kalamitsy beach is the southernmost on the east coast of Sithonia and is located at the foot of the same-name resort village. Its entire extended territory is conditionally divided into 3 parts, including the nudist beach, located in the outskirts. The most "civilized" is the center of the beach.
The entire coastline is covered with clean and incredibly white, fine sand, shining in the sun and surrounded by contrasting gray cliffs and turquoise waters. Picturesque views are its peculiar "zest".
The main characteristics of Kalamitsa also include:
- coast, perfectly protected from the winds;
- lack of high waves (there are almost none);
- quite sharp entry into the sea, considerable depth begins suddenly quickly;
- colder waters, than on other beaches of the peninsula, because the sea is warmed up worse due to significant depths
Given the last 2 points, this is not the best beach for rest with small children, but an ideal place for those, who want to seclude due to the smaller number of vacationers here. With small children it is better to look for another beach in Halkidiki (for example, go to the neighboring Sikia).
For lovers of beach parties, this is also not a suitable place. There are no clubs and discos here. But you can plunge into the unique relaxing atmosphere of solitude and a leisurely rhythm of rest.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure
Most of the beach is equipped with paid parasols and sunbeds, but there are also beach areas where you can sit on your towel. In the center of the beach, you can rent water scooters and catamarans. Inside the village is a diving center that offers a diving training course.
What is about accommodation options, then:
- Close to the center of the beach are several coastal mini-hotels. You can stay in a stand-alone complex Ammos Kalamitsiinside the village, it’s only in a couple meters away from the beach, or in a guest houseHouse Stella, located in 50 meters away from the beach.
- There are also several well-maintained campsites close to the beach (for instance, Tsitreli, is ideal for family rest).
- There are also enough offers for renting holiday homes and apartments in the vicinity of the beach.
In the central part of the beach you can find several cozy restaurants, beach bars and cafes. In taverns you can order local meat and fish dishes.

- From Thessaloniki you can get to the village of Kalamitsy by regular bus, which runs three times a day. But you always need to clarify whether it comes to the closest stop to the resort. Therefore, it is better to opt for a rented car if you want to get to this beach.
- Near the beach there is a picturesque rocky island, which can be reached by swimming and sunbathing on the rocks warmed by the sun.
- You can go to the neighboring village of Sarti (5 km), where horseback riding and donkey rides are offered, or book a boat trip.
