Panteleimonas beach

Panteleimonas Beach - one of the beaches of Central Macedonia, located near Paralia Panteleimonos resort village. The name is associated with the famous and widely revered in Greece Saint Panteleimon, in whose memory a stone Church was built. The picturesque coastline and numerous attractions in the area attract many lovers of a relaxing beach holiday with varied leisure activities.

Beach description

Panteleimonos is a beach, ideal for family rest. Surrounded by a mountain range of majestic Olympus, a rather wide and long coast is considered to be one of the most picturesque ones in Greek Macedonia. They come here for a quiet rest against the background of beautiful views.

The beach, protected by a mountain range, is a cozy place, where strong winds and high waves rarely occur. Depth entry is gradual. That is why it is recommended to go here to rest with children.

The main features of the beach:

  • the coast, like throughout Pieria, is sandy and shingly, with prevailing fine golden sand;
  • water is especially pure;
  • the bottom is covered with small shingle, special slippers are not needed here;
  • jellyfish are found

Snow on the mountain peaks often disappears only in July, which allows to see incredible contrasts against the background of hot sand on the beach and when swimming in the warm sea. To comfortably swim on this beach, it is necessary to go here from mid-June to September.

Usually the coast is not crowded, except for the warmest days in August. It is possible to come here even in the off season, since the coastline is protected from the winds, which allows to walk by the sea, breathe healthy sea air and spend fun time on excursions.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

  • a journey through neighboring colorful villages;
  • excursions to the ancient Byzantine fortress of Platamon and Olympus National Park;
  • visit to traditional shops where you can buy herbal teas from Olympus and original cosmetics on herbs

The nearest airport is Thessaloniki. From there you can get to Katarina and only then to the village to Panteleimonos Beach. It should consider that regular buses across the region rarely run (1-2 times a day), so you will either have to walk a lot or rent a car immediately.
