Beach description
-
Coviu is known as Mecca for lovers of wild tourism. 60% of its territory is not equipped with any infrastructure. In the wild areas of the beach there is a lot of free space, bizarre cliffs and wild trees. The "civilized" part of the coast is equipped with sunbeds, a toilet, umbrellas and changing rooms.
Koviu Beach is ideal for the following forms of pastime:
- sunbathing;
- siesta with dishes of greek cuisine and cold drinks;
- snorkeling and diving;
- family rest with children;
- walks in the wildlife and conquering cliffs.
The beach is characterized by a smooth increase of depth and a soft sea bottom. Round rocks are rarely found in water.
Koviu is located 5 km from the village of Nikiti. Signs (the "Isla" bar) on the road to Sithonia lead to this place. It is possible to get here by a narrow path with a steep descent. Free parking lot is located to north of the beach.
Useful information: in the central part of Koviu there is a small green pond, where turtles live. This place is popular among children of all ages..
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
