Damouchari beach
Located in the east of Pelion next to the fishing village of the same name. Previously, there was a busy sea harbor, now the marina is preserved only in the northern part of the bay, and in the southern lurked amazingly beautiful small beach surrounded by wild cliffs and olive groves. It’s not easy to get here, but the landscapes here are worth it, not without reason many newlyweds choose these places for the wedding ceremony. Even the creators of the film “Mama Mia!” could not resist such beauty and shot several episodes on the coast of Damuhari. In honor of this event, one of the local taverns was renamed, on the walls of which there is a photograph of Raisa Gorbacheva, a big fan of these places.

Beach description
The beach is a small picturesque bay of about two hundred meters long, surrounded by majestic cliffs. The shore is covered with white and pink pebbles, the sea is emerald blue and crystal clear. The bottom is rocky, and there are a lot of underwater stones of different shapes and sizes around – a real paradise for those who love diving and snorkeling.
The beach is “wild”, the only amenities here are the toilets in the taverns nearby and a few locker rooms, so you'll have to take care of the rest by yourself.
As a rule, this place is visited by lovers of quiet and peaceful relaxation alone with nature, who are not afraid of the lack of comfort and steep mountain slopes, so Damouchari is not the best option for recreation with young children. The neighboring Ai-Yannis, which is a twenty-minute walk away, is more suitable for them.
Above the beach, there is an viewing deck that offers magnificent views of the bay, a harbour with docked fishing boats and pleasure boats, and a spit dividing the bay into two parts. There is the Monastery of St. Nicholas and the ruins of the ancient fortress on it, which have survived to this day.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

There is no parking close to the beach, this is a reason why it is better to leave a car in the village. The main thing is to adhere to the main road so as not to get lost among the many streets and courtyards. Many people prefer to get to Damuhari by boat and motor boat, cruising from Agios Ioannis and Mylopotamos, in order not to tempt fate on steep mountain serpentines.
Kastro Studios is a small cozy hotel, located right on the shore in one minute walk from the beach. Surrounded by bizarre cliffs and shady olive groves. Each room has a kitchen and everything you may need for a good rest. It offers free Internet and parasols, there is a mini market on site.
Villa Damma Mia is an ideal variant for a romantic relaxation for two people. Located right under the cliff in a picturesque secluded place. The building was built from environment friendly materials (stone and wood) and is intricately decorated in a traditional style. There is an open terrace resembling a cave. Bars and taverns are located nearby, also free parking is nearby.
