Rakopotamos beach

Rakopotamos is one of the most popular and most beautiful beaches in the Larisa region, which got its name from a small waterfall located in the vicinity. The easiest way to get to it is from Agiokampos (8 km), having reached the village of the same name on the beach, and then walking down the path from it to the coast itself.

Beach description

Rakopotamos Beach is covered with golden sand and fine pebbles. The shore is quite long and wide, resembling a natural harbor and conditionally divided into 2 parts. The first one is most equipped for recreation (with beach umbrellas, cafes and seaside tavern, as well as free camping) and more sandy, and the second one is wild and rocky, in some places you can find even huge boulders. On the whole shore the rocky landscapes alternate with the more flat territory.

The coast of Rakopotamos is well protected from the winds, and if waves do occur, they are usually small. The sea waters on this beach are very clean. Although significant depths start at a short distance from the shore, many people prefer to spend their holidays here with their children. But when vacationing with babies, it's better to look for a different place. Those who come here should definitely take a walk to the picturesque cascade waterfalls in the vicinity.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
