Fakistra beach

Located in the southeast of Pelion in the vicinity of the village of Agia Paraskevi. It is thoughtfully hidden from prying eyes by massive rocks surrounding the bay. It is impossible to drive to the beach by car; you have to get on foot along a steep mountain path. Fakistra is one of the ten most beautiful “wild” beaches in Europe, and its photographs invariably adorn the pages of tourist booklets.

Beach description

The beach is located in a tiny bay, surrounded by cliffs on all sides. The shore is pebbly, the bottom too, the water is transparent, of emerald and azure color. The beach is “wild”, completely unequipped, so you need to take care of everything you need, including the garbage bags. A lot of tourists come here with tents to fully enjoy the magic of this amazing place and feel like the heroes of The Beach movie.

There are enough secluded corners on the beach, allowing people not to disturb each other, so despite its small size, there is enough space for everyone. Trees and shrubs come near the shore, in the shade of which you can hide from the midday heat. In the afternoon, the sun goes beyond the mountains and it becomes very comfortable on the beach.

Needless to say, the local waters are a paradise for divers and lovers of underwater hunting. To be honest, in the sea you can find not only flocks of colored fish, but also quite dangerous representatives of marine fauna (moray eels, sea urchins, etc.).

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
