Kalamaki beach
Kalamaki Beach is a beautiful wild beach near the village of the same name on the northeastern edge of the Pelion Peninsula. Due to the easy access (about an hour by car from Volos) and descent to the coast, it is especially popular among vacationers who want to find a secluded corner for relaxation in this part of Thessaly.

Despite the complete lack of infrastructure, the beach of Kalamaki attracts with its specific natural peculiarities. In its surroundings there are picturesque freshwater springs with cold water. On the sea bottom of Kalamaki there are flat stone slabs, which in some places form a kind of natural baths. The water here is incredibly clear.
This is a true paradise for those who want to escape from the noisy crowds and have some privacy in the surroundings of spectacular natural landscapes. There are rocks on the shoreline, but the shallow waters and cleanliness of the shore make this beach suitable for children. Just keep in mind that even in August it can be a little bit cool to swim on Kalamaki because of the cold underwater currents. It's worth getting here even just for beautiful nature.
There aren't many vacationers here. Usually it's the locals from the village and rare tourists who discovered this small paradise on Pelion. There are two excellent restaurants in the village, one of them offering an impressive view of the shoreline.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
