Plaka beach
Plaka is a picturesque beach on the east coast of the Pilion Peninsula, which is well equipped and ideal for families with children. It is located next to the village of Anilio, in the immediate vicinity of Agios Ioannis (only 800 m) and a little south of Agios Saranda .

The Plaka shoreline is narrow, but long, covered with golden sand, which contains more and more medium-sized flat pebbles the closer you come to the sea, while the bottom of the sea is even more rocky. The water on the beach is crystal-clear, so you can see the colorful pebbles on the bottom even at a good distance from the shore. In the central part there is a picturesque underground spring, which is the coolest place there. A significant part of the shallow waters makes Plaka popular among holidaymakers with children.
During the last years Plaka is becoming more and more popular and there are often a lot of tourists on the shore. That's why it's better to get here early, given the narrow strip of shoreline. In this case, there is a better chance to take a comfortable place and find available sun loungers with umbrellas, which are rented to holidaymakers. Parking is paid, but in addition to the car space, you get 2 drinks, an umbrella and a deck chair. There is a beach bar on the shore, and there are several restaurants and even villas in the vicinity where you can stay.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
